How To Use Your Mind Power To Get What You Want In Your Life

Every human being is made up of 2 parts: an outer part which is usually referred to as the body, and an inner part which is usually referred to as the soul.

Alternative words are often used to refer to the body and the soul. The body is sometimes referred to as the material part, the physical substance, or the matter, and the soul as the spiritual part, the spirit, the mind, the intelligence, the intellect, the energy.

For the purpose of this course, all these terms are considered to be equivalent to one another.

If every human being is made up of a body and a soul, how do human beings interact or communicate with one another?

In order to give an accurate answer to this fundamental question it’s important to establish a clear distinction between the physical world and the spiritual world.

In the same way that human beings are made up of a physical part and a spiritual part the world we live in is also made up of 2 parts: the physical world and the spiritual world. These 2 worlds are sometimes referred to as the physical layer and the spiritual layer.

Human beings can interact or communicate with other human beings in the physical world as well as in the spiritual world.

On the physical world, the interaction or communication between 2 human beings occurs through their respective bodies, one body interacting with the other. Examples of such interactions include shaking hands, making eye contacts,using body language,speaking,touching, making phone calls,sending letters,text or email messages,etc.

On the spiritual world, human beings can only interact with one another through their respective souls, one soul interacting with another one human beings cannot access the spiritual world through their bodies. The only way they can communicate on the spiritual level is through their respective souls.

We all know how to interact with others in the material world.We do it every day when we speak to our neighbors or to our colleagues at the work place, when we send letters, emails or text messages to our friends or relatives, when we smile to someone, etc. But when it comes to interacting in the spiritual world,most people are at a loss.They just don’t know how to do it because they have not been properly trained to do so.

Knowing how to interact with other people on the spiritual world is of the utmost importance if we want to influence other people and get them to do what we want.

Let say for the purpose of illustration that you want to get a promotion at the work place . The way most people would go about it is to work hard in the hope that their employer will notice their hard work and ultimately reward them with a promotion. By working hard at the work place they have chosen to influence their boss in the physical world.I say in the physical world because the work place is a material thing and therefore a part of the physical world.

However experience teaches us that hard work does not necessary guarantee a promotion. It’s just not enough to work hard in the physical world in order to be successful.

A better way would be to act at the same time in the spiritual world by influencing your boss into getting you the promotion you are looking for.

The only way to influence him/ her at the spiritual level is to get your soul (your spiritual part) to interact with his/her soul (his/her spiritual part) and put his/her soul under your control.

Communicating at both the spiritual level and the material level is the most effective way to get what you want from other people.

This free day-and-a-half program of spiritual development and personal growth hosted by students and faculty will be held in beautiful Lake Arrowhead, California, on April 15-16, 2005. History of Fasting for Spiritual Breakthrough

Fasting has been practiced by humans and animals since history began. It was really the only method for healing that primitive man had (other than some herbs from nature). They would fast when they became hurt or ill. It was a natural instinct for self preservation

Fasting (spiritual and non-spiritual) has been around for a very long time. Spiritual Fasting has some importance in almost every religion. The Bible, alone, has 74 references to it. Spiritual fasting is mentioned in both the Old and New Testament, in the Mahabharata, in the Upanishads and in the Qur’an.

Jesus fasted for 40 days, and his disciples took part in many long fasts. All of history’s greatest spiritual teachers took part in spiritual fasting. They all understood the power of fasting for spiritual breakthrough. Now, you are being exposed to it!

Benefits of Spiritual Fasting

The benefits of spiritual fasting are both physical and non-physical. Many of the effects cannot even be described and/or scientifically proven. Below, I will list some of the main effects of spiritual fasting.

First of all you are no longer controlled by food. I am amazed each time I do a fast how free I feel. You will notice that you have so much more time. You are not a slave to your food. Your regain your mastery over it. After fasting, you do not eat as much as you use to. This is because you have more mental power to control food, and your stomach shrinks slightly.

Fasting for spiritual breakthrough has also been known to reduce mouth and body odor. Many people have reported no longer needing to use any kind of deodorants, after taking part in regular spiritual fasting.

Spiritual fasting has many benefits for your body. It gives your body a physiological rest. During this time, you body is also able to get rid of toxins. Basically fasting for spiritual breakthrough allows your body to relax and let go, which causes a very powerful internal cleansing.

Spiritual fasting can be a very empowering experience. If you are able to complete it, you feel sense of accomplishment and freedom. I have found spiritual fasting is a great way for me to become inspired. It has also been know to cause a calming effect. And for some people it induces feelings of euphoria, it is like a natural high.

Overall, fasting for spiritual breakthrough cleans the body-mind and feeds the spirit.

How to Begin Fasting for Spiritual Breakthrough

The best way, from my experience, to begin fasting for spiritual breakthrough is to start with a 24 hour fast. It is pretty safe, and very healthy. Although, depending on you, it may be better to start with a juice fast.

During the 24 hour fast, which I am talking about, you can only consume water. During this time, no food should enter your system. Although, I recommend you take one teaspoon of honey in a glass of water. During the fast it is very important you drink a lot of water. Usually 8-10 glasses of pure, distilled water are sufficient.

Ending the spiritual fast, is usually one of the most important parts. Personally I end fasts with the meal recommended in “The Miracle of Fasting” by Paul and Patricia Bragg. They say after 24 hours to end the fast, the best thing for you to eat is a raw coleslaw cabbage made up of chopped cabbage, grated carrots, and beets with a fresh lemon juice as a dressing. Whatever you do, eat something light, natural, and organic. I do not recommend you break a fast with any animal products.

Most importantly, do your research and make sure you consult a physician for your specific needs and results.

Cultivating Spiritual Intimacy

When two people - destined for each other, come together, there is often an incredible amount of combustibility. Combustion occurs when two or more substances react chemically together, resulting in the giving off of heat and light; often called burning. In the same manner, two people joined together by God can spiritually set each other on fire.

However, after being married a while that sense of combustibility can easily be lost if the spiritual life of the marriage is not cultivated. But, a couple that intentionally, and actively engages in maintaining the spiritual life of the marriage continues to be a strength one to another, and ignites new sparks that blazes through every area of marriage and family. I believe that through personal devotion, mutual support, joint devotions, spiritual dialogue, and spiritual activities, a Christian couple can maintain spiritual intimacy in their marriage.

First, each spouse must keep their fire burning. Each partner keeps their fire burning by maintaining a growing and intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus, through personal prayer and Bible study. When we first got married, my wife and I mistakenly thought we could depend on each other’s spiritual life for our personal growth. I thought to myself “my wife is such a great Christian, she will be able to help me solve my spiritual struggles”. The mistake we made was instead of pursuing the Lord for our personal growth, we began to depend on each other. Eventually instead of helping, we began to drain each other. What we learned is that we must maintain intimacy with the Lord in order to have true spiritual intimacy with each other.

Once our personal lives are burning with spiritual fire, then we can conduct that heat to our partners. If you have ever touched a hot pot, then you understand what a conductor is. Metal pots are good conductors because they transmit the heat coming from the stove. The person whose spiritual life is hot and on fire can conduct that spiritual strength to their partner.
To be spiritual heat conductors we must intercede for our mates in prayer, and support them with our encouragement. An effective intercessor believes God for the success of their partner. Exercising faith in prayer for your partner is crucial. Why? Well, we know more than anyone else the strengths and weaknesses of our partners. We see their faults, joys, and sadness. Thus, not only do we have the opportunity to intimately intercede in faith for them, but also our encouragement means a lot to them. Essentially, we must be our partner’s own spiritual cheerleader - fanning the flames.

In addition to the above, a Christian couple spreads the spiritual flames through joint spiritual habits. The most obvious of these is having scheduled devotions. In devotions couples pray and share biblical truths with each other in an open and transparent way. I recommend not only having a scheduled time of devotion, but also allowing that time to develop into a natural habit. In our experience, my wife and I, have found it best not to allow our scheduled time to become a rigid formality; instead, it serves as a training time for the natural flow of our spiritual connection. So that in times of difficulty praying and sharing together will be as simple as breathing.

A natural outflow of a joint spiritual life is spiritual dialogue. Although often neglected, spiritual dialogue is an important part of spreading the flames of spiritual intimacy. I define spiritual dialogue as qualitative and interactive conversation concerning our application, thoughts, feelings, and conclusions on spiritual matters as it relates to our life and society. Put simply, it is enjoyably talking about how spiritual things affect our life and the world around us.

Spiritual dialogue is qualitative and interactive. It is more than surface talk, such as “Pastor preached a good sermon today”. It involves sharing our deep spiritual thoughts to each other, such as “this is how I’m going to apply the sermon to my daily life..”, or “the Lord showed me weakness in that area”. Remember to interact, and allow each other ample time to share insights and thoughts.

Going to spiritual events together provides opportunities for spiritual dialogue. Sometimes we can make religious activities such a duty that we drain all the joy out of it. Couples, however, can enjoy spiritual activities together. The spiritual activities couples can share together goes beyond the regular Sunday services, and weekly conferences. Volunteering to work side by side in a Christian ministry, and working together on Christian projects are good activities to share together.
Along with that, today there are Christian movies and television programs that you can watch. Many Christian organizations today are making Christian videos more than ever. Perhaps you and your mate can buy a video, and watch it together, then discuss it afterwards. Simply enjoy your joint spiritual life; you are heirs together of God’s promise.

CHOOSING A SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

You are spiritual by nature which means that your inborn capacity to live within the meaning of human experience and participate in the development of consciousness is a process waiting to form over time. The depth, the extent to which this capacity forms, depends upon you. Spiritual illumination comes with honest effort — do not expect it to drop out of the sky or come in a special, hand-delivered envelope.

Where to start? The desire to grow in wisdom and understanding is a first step. At birth as you are trying to make sense of the everyday world, your spiritual awareness takes the opportunity to grow as meaning forms. Insight will evolve as you grow within a willingness to explore questions and change personal attitudes.

From your early days until the present, the ordinary world has offered endless opportunities to mature in a process of discovery leading to deeper insight into the mystery of Life. Because these experiences occur every day in the context of personal history, your interpretation of them plays a big part in the direction you take. Exploring the emotional history of your life can reveal the unresolved issues that might be delaying, distorting or misdirecting your natural desire to grow in Spirit. Problems, pain, human suffering of all kinds will strengthen your interior life if these are grounded in the attitude of personal accountability. Without honest self-evaluation, your spiritual path can seem to go around in circles.

You may choose a specific belief system within a religion to guide you, and you may rely upon your insight and personal experiences to deepen your spiritual journey. You may seek out life lessons found in literature, art, music, philosophy. There are many religions, many teachers, many spiritual disciplines to inspire, guide, inform your spiritual journey - all are vehicles to carry your process of developing awareness leading to your inner Wisdom. But finally the most important spiritual tools to take on you spiritual journey will be your attitude of interest, your openness to discovery, your willingness to discard fixed interpretations. These will allow you to choose the appropriate path as you direct yourself forward.

What Is Your Real Answer, The One Inside, To The Question How Are You Doing?

Part of my work as a business consultant often includes working with companies on their mission statement. How about this one:

“Our Mission Is To Encourage Awareness of Spirit Within and Inspire A Way of Life That Brings Love, Freedom, Peace and Joy”

Isn’t that awesome? That is the mission statement of the Unity

Church. …a way of life that brings love, freedom, peace and joy.

Can you imagine everyday of your life with the love, freedom, peace and joy that you want? I can and I am working on myself to achieve that state - all the time. Rev T. talks about life being a state of change. Inner changes are structural changes otherwise what you change is replaced by like kind. Did you know that 70% of the third time marriages end in divorce? Is it possible those people are replacing failed relationships with a like kind relationship? I have had my share of failed relationships. Each time I had my list of what was wrong with the other person. Now I am looking very carefully at myself. In 1994 I began reinventing myself. That was the year I moved from being an employee to a business owner. Late the following year, I began reinventing myself again when I started a business. Both initiatives were really foundation steps to becoming a completely different person. There were successes. But the real growth came from the huge difficulties including relationship difficulties that seemed to roll in just when I thought things were really fine.

I eventually woke up to the fact that I was the one person always at the scene of the crime. I had to begin to look deep inside to discover what it was about me that was manifesting the difficulties. Does this mean I went on a spiritual journey to discover what was wrong? I didn’t set out to become a spiritual being. However, along the way I discovered clarification. I have always been a spiritual being. I just didn’t acknowledge some of the principles. I didn’t understand the spiritual laws of success. I didn’t recognize that by paying attention to the attributes of my spiritual self, I could actually become a more peaceful, content and happy person even while I continued my quest with renewed gusto for the wealth that is my birthright.

By the way, the wealth of wellness, happiness, and prosperity is everyone’s birthright. We are entitled to it. God wants us to have it. Rev. T, who is the Reverend Temple Hayes of the First Unity Church of St. Petersburg, Florida, talked today about relearning in connection with her back to school message. This message was meant for everyone not just the students returning to the classroom. I’ve never paid that close attention to the spiritual lessons delivered from the pulpit when I was going to church growing up. But now, I look forward to being in church with like minded people and even take a notebook to record the most important points made by Rev. T. I can’t write fast enough and so now I buy a CD every week of the service.

I never in my life imagined buying a CD of a church service with a recording of what I had just heard. Generally I was one of those people clamoring to get out of church and on to other things I would rather be doing. I thought it was just Rev. T. Maybe she is especially blessed with being able to deliver these messages. Well then she shows up missing some Sundays. The first couple times that happened I figured service would not be that good that day. Then the guest ministers and speakers get started and wow, they are all wonderful. So I now I just get every CD from every service.

You will find a selection soon of some of the messages from Rev. T and others soon at I Stand For God, and then you can see what I mean. I am continually working on growing new roots and dispensing of ideas that no longer work. I am working hard at this because I don’t find it always natural to answer in the positive when someone asks how I am doing. I think that has been the case a lot in my life. Now I am tired of kidding when someone says “hey Steve how are you doing?” When I answer I am doing very well I want to be able to mean it all the time. I think that is what this is all about. Because when I am able to say I am doing very well that means I have love, freedom, peace and joy - ending with the Unity mission statement just like we started.
